We learned from a support team chat conversation that Bear Mattresses use Certi-Pur certified foams, and that they are not organic.

Sleep Cupid's review of Bear Mattresses says that "...its materials are sourced in the United States. The beds themselves are also assembled within the country. The foam that is used in the Bear Mattress is also quite safe with very little off-gassing. It is CertiPUR-US certified, which means it is free of toxic materials and is also safe for the environment. It’s manufactured without the use of heavy metals and without releasing noxious chemicals into the atmosphere."

If you have allergies, Bear Mattresses may not be well suited to you. We reached out to their support team via chat and the representative said "It is not hypo-allergenic but there have been no reported reactions"

When it comes to motion isolation, Mattress Guide gave a positive review, saying "Motion transfer with the Bear Mattress is quite minimal – almost none at all. Which makes it an excellent option for couples if one of them if easily disturbed by shuffling or movement from the other one."

Tuck.com, who created their review after analyzing over 3,000 reviews from 22 sources, concluded similarly. They gave Bear Mattresses a rating of Very Good (with only Excellent being higher) for motion isolation, saying "According to owners, the Bear Mattress absorbs and isolates motion to a significant extent, and many report a reduced number of nighttime sleep disruptions."

The Sleep Judge agreed, and even performed a weight drop test. They said, "Where the Bear lacks in edge support it makes up for in motion isolation... I used a 20-pound medicine ball and held it at eye-level. When I dropped it onto the bed, it only bounced very slightly before coming to rest. I  then placed the ball on one side of the bed and dropped an identical ball on the other side. There was very minimal disruption of the resting ball. You could also see clearly that the bed quickly bounced back when the ball was dropped."

Tuck.com analyzed over 3,000 reviews from 22 different sources to create their review. They gave Bear Mattress a score of Very Good (with only Excellent being higher) for Temperature Neutrality, saying "The Bear hybrid mattress will be more temperature neutral than the all foam Bear mattress."

Mattress Guides says that the Beat Mattress should be good for hot sleepers, given "On top of it lies a layer of graphite gel- infused memory foam, which improves the thermal exchange by having a cooling effect of 7 times the regular foam."

Tuck.com's review rated Bear Mattress mattresses as Good (below Very Good and Excellent) for sex, saying, "Like many other memory foam models, the Bear Mattress may not be responsive or bouncy enough for some couples."

Tuck.com's review of Bear Mattress says there can be a slight odor, saying, "Some Bear owners report off-gassing smells when their bed is new, but the mattress is not associated with excessive odors."

The Sleep Judge's review was very positive about the low odor, saying, "With some mattresses, you may notice a strong chemical smell when you initially unbox, and this can be bothersome. However, with the Bear Mattress, this was not remotely an issue."

Tuck.com awarded Bear Mattress with the "Best Mattress for Back Pain - Value Pick" award and said, "The Bear mattress conforms somewhat closely and owners report some pain and pressure relief, but models with multiple memory foam layers typically contour closer and alleviate more aches and pains."

The Sleep Judge praised Bear Mattress mattresses for their back pain friendly make-up, saying, "Neck and back pain resulting from exercise disappeared after two weeks of use."
